1000 Books Before Kindergarten
If you have a baby, a toddler, or a preschooler in your life, you can enroll them in our 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program. Registering and logging books for this program is now available online through our READsquared app that you can download to your smartphone or tablet. You can also request a paper log at the library. This program encourages families to read 1,000 books with their children before they enter kindergarten. Your child will get a free book from the library to keep after every 100 books read. When your family has read 1,000 books, your child will earn a special prize.

Play And Learn (PAL kits)
Are you looking for something fun to do with your preschooler or young elementary student that helps with early learning? Check out one of our 25 to take home for three weeks. Each kit is chock full of books, games, puzzles, toys, and activities relating to a particular theme. We have a wide variety of themes, such as “Alike and Different,” “Circus,” “Dinosaurs,” “Family,” “Ocean/Seashore,” “Shapes,” and “Space” for families to borrow.
Neurological research has shown that brain development in young children increases through interactive play between parent or caregiver and child. The PAL Kits made interactive play easy for a parent or grandparent with everything pre-planned and ready to go.
The PAL Kits are the result of a Community Guidance for Youth Grant from Eli Lilly, and the project was driven by longtime volunteer and library patron Rosalie Dugranrut.
