1000 Books Before Kindergarten

Four Bears!

We are excited to begin a new program with our preschoolers! Parents can pick up a

“1000 Books Before Kindergarten” folder at the front desk. Each folder contains journal

pages for book titles along with, information about activities and programs offered at

our library and around the county for preschoolers. Mother Goose on the Loose, Book

Pals, Book Buddies, Playgroups, and Every Child Can Read are among these options.

Children at our library are asked to read 1000 books before Kindergarten along with all other Wayne County Libraries, Hagerstown, Centerville, Dublin and Morrison Reeves in Richmond and many other libraries around the country!

When children sign up here, a book will be given to them and their picture taken for our bulletin board. They will also get a book and their picture in the newspaper when they reach 1000 books!

Family members can then fill in book titles that have been read to the child. Prizes will be given for every 100 books read!

The goal is to help our children gain vocabulary and awareness of a variety of subjects, learn to enjoy reading, and to become lifelong library users, just to name a few advantages! Folders can be picked up in the Children’s area or at the Circulation Desk.

Please call the library at 478-3335 for more information!
